Release Blitz Review: My Dark Knight by K. A. Merikan

My Dark Knight
(Kings of Hell MC #2)
by K.A. Merikan
Genre: Paranormal, M/M Romance
Release Date: August 10, 2017

Love or hate. Life or death. No inbetween. No compromise. No rules in love and war.

Knight. Party monster. Handsome Savage. Doesn’t do monogamy.
Elliot. Obsessive. Intense. Uncompromising.

Newly single, Knight is done with relationships. All he's interested in is bringing down The Count, an Internet personality who is tarnishing his family name. An opportunity to crush him comes when the audacious clown shows up at the Kings of Hell MC clubhouse to film for his YouTube channel. But when Knight meets Elliot, the man behind The Count, he no longer knows what to do with him.

Knight has never seen a more pathetic creature than Elliot. He’s also never met anyone who needed him more. Skinny, messed up, and a bucket of trouble as thick as tar, everything Elliot does seems to be a wordless death wish. No matter how much Knight hates Elliot’s alter ego, under the makeup and theatrics hides a fragile young guy with a passion for history, and Knight can’t help but catch Elliot every time he falls.

Elliot has bad taste in men. Always hopelessly attracted to violent brutes, his favorite is a long dead serial killer. But he gets more than he’s bargained for when he seizes an opportunity to meet the man of his dreams. The ghost is manipulative and dangerous, offering Elliot all he’s always wanted, for a price he can’t possibly pay.

Elliot is faced with an impossible choice between two men.
One alive, one dead.
One carnal and honest, one drizzling sweet, poisoned promises into his ear.
One unwilling to commit, the other promising an eternity together.
And Elliot doesn’t settle for half-measures. He craves a love that is all or nothing, passion that will consume him, and desire to burn him alive.
Elliot is ready to either get that, or die trying.

Another amazing release by KA Merikan and I can't even decide whether I like Laurent and the Beast more or My Dark Knight. Both are equally awesome in their own way despite having very different characters. While Laurent and Beast have more of a straight forward Beauty & the Beast theme romance with some time travel and paranormal thrown in to spice things up, My Dark Knight is basically a love triangle that involved a certain villainous ghost.

Love triangle, you say? I hate that. I usually do. But since William Fane is actually a ghost, I don't really see him as a competition. How can he compare to Knight, the chivalrous and badass biker who loves history.

Elliot aka The Count is a seriously flawed character, he is so fucked up that he actually thinks he is in love with the infamous serial killer 200 years ago and he did everything in his power to come in contact with him no matter the cost. However, despite all his shortcoming and messed up thinking, I can't help but fell deeply for his vulnerability and his craving to be wanted and love.

In order to understand the background history of the paranormal element within the clubhouse, including the history of William Fane, reader must have read Book 1. We also get to meet Beast and Laurent again here, although Laurent seems really prickly and irritated by Elliot, which is totally understandable. But I really miss the endearing Laurent with all his softness and innocence.

Knight and Elliot started off as a nemesis due to their disagreement about the Fane-Mercier non-relationship, but Knight seems like a nice guy right from the start. Them being on the wrong foot didn't prolong and in a short time they are already a pair history-digging-buddies and Knight repeatedly tried to save Elliot's life. Knight being a disreputable manwhore does worry me a little, but it seems like his character development was handled quite well. I'm pleased. Elliot is totally needy and clingy though he tried to control himself, while Knight doesn't do commitment. Knight doesn't even see himself with a man romantically, although he can totally fuck one. Man, does he really needs some time time to figure out all the conflicting feelings he had for Elliot. There are a lot more drama that happened between Knight and Elliot and also the ghost of William Fane, but I shall just leave you to discover it for yourself.

Despite the long page count with a staggering 466 pages, it honestly doesn't feel that long due to the fast moving plot. Every chapter there are something happening that keep me engrossed and a lot of WTF moment that left my eye bulging out. When my kindle is creeping towards the end line, I seriously didn't want this to end. I wanted months for this and I wish I can savor this for a few more days.
