A trust destroyed is a trust that is hard to recover…

Brendan Matthews is happy training racehorses for a living. He thinks he’s hit the jackpot when a wealthy orthopedic surgeon, Adam Ahmadi, sends six yearlings his way. Not only are the horses a cut above the rest, their owner isn’t too shabby either.

But not everything is as it seems. Adam has many secrets, most of them dark and deadly. When Adam’s past returns with a vengeance, he disappears, leaving Brendan confused and hurt.

If Adam survives, will his past destroy their future?

I didn't realize this story revolves around a racehorse trainer before I started on it. In the beginning I'm feeling a bit reserve with the hero Brendan's occupation and Adam's new interest in acquiring a few racehorse for himself. As a pet lover, I despite any form of animal entertainment, especially horse racing.

Anyway, moving on... this story didn't delve a lot on the horse training details and there isn't any form of cruelty being showcase. In fact, Brendan seems devoted and care for his horses very much. So it easier for me to enjoy the story as it flows.

Brendan was totally enamored from their first meeting but tried to keep things professional. Before long, he was totally smitten and took it hard when Adam took off without much explanation.

When Adam was first introduced, I can sense he is hiding something behind his facade of indifference rich guy with a new hobby. But finding out the big 'unexpected truth' is not something I imagine. It just seems so far fetch for the tone of the story that I'm expecting. Totally can't see it coming.

There is a big story arc for the danger and suspense with a group of charming secondary characters. When Adam's past came back to haunt him, how will Brendan react to all this upheaval to his peaceful life? Adam is totally not what I expected, Brendan is such a dear that I believe readers will fall for.

S.A. Meade lives in deepest Wiltshire with her son, a dog and two cats. She is still partial to gin and tonic and loves to cook. When she's not working, she stares at her laptop and waits for inspiration to strike, preferring that to mowing the lawn or weeding. When parked in front of a computer, she can be found wandering the streets of her village, dog in tow.
