(Sugar Bowl, Book #3)
by Sawyer Bennett
Release Date: October 11, 2016
Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush.
For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth?
Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.
I got this book from Netgalley since forever, but I didn't feel the desperation to read it even after the cliffhanger in Sugar Rush. I think most of us can already guess what Sela did? I just don't feel the suspense anymore. When I finally start to read Sugar Free, my expectation was lowered. Surprisingly, I find myself enjoying this finale very much and keep flipping through the pages because it was still exciting and full of suspense.
Sugar Free is like an episode straight out of Law & Order. Beck and Sela have to deal with the authorities, the lawyer and desperately hoping for the best. I'm constantly on pins and needles, worried about their predicament.
In the midst of all the trouble, Beck and Sela's commitment and love for each other stay stronger than ever. Despite some of Sela's stupidity that make me want to strangle her, I can see that she did a lot of things out of love for her man. As for Beck, the man is perfection. His devotion and willingness to sacrifice everything for his woman is admirable. Is he for real?
Overall, I absolutely love Sugar Bowl's trilogy and so far I think this is the most memorable work by Sawyer Bennett so far. If you enjoyed great plot, high suspense, some danger and excitement and of course sexiness and LOVE, this is for you.
