An accidental meeting and a misunderstanding lead to a life-altering connection
A new job, a new city, and hopefully a new life. When chubby gamer Oliver Barnaby receives a job offer from the best boutique game developer in the country, he leaves his family and his less than spectacular existence in Oklahoma without a second’s hesitation. Determined to change more than his career and his geography, Oliver implements a plan to finally land a boyfriend. Step one is improving his skills in the bedroom.
A life that looks perfect on paper, but feels empty in reality. Attractive, successful, charismatic Jaime Snow has a life other people envy. His already booming business is growing. He isn’t lacking in friends. And he has no trouble finding a date. But there’s an emptiness in Jaime’s heart and a hole in his life that only the right man can fill.
An accidental meeting, a misunderstanding, and falling in love. When Oliver and Jaime end up at the same bar at the same time, they each see something they want in the other. Going to bed together that first night is easy. Building the lifetime relationship they both desperately crave will require trust, time, and a little misunderstanding.
This book is about a hero who is very self conscious on his weight and the story is uber sweet, low angst, low drama and lotsa love. Is not even a story whereby the ugly duckling got a makeover than turn him into a swan. Nope. Is all about love and acceptance for who you are without all the glitter.
Oliver doesn't have much sexual experience and the only one relationship his had crash and burn him badly. In order to make fresh start for himself in a new city with a fantastic new job as a video game programmer, he decided to hire someone to teach him on how to be good in bed.
Jaime is a successful businessman, on paper his life his perfect but at the age of 40, he is still searching for his soulmate. A chance encounter at the bar and a misunderstanding landed Oliver on his path and Jaime is determine to take advantage of the situation to get to know the sweet and endearing man more intimately.
I love the fact that the author wrote about a man who isn't all drool worthy. Oliver is an average guy, not much of a social person and his chubby body is nothing to be proud of. He is a someone people tend to overlook in this society where everyone out there is chasing after physical perfection. I feel an instant connection with his character because I'm one of those woman who never have a good hair day.
Jaime on the other hand is quite intimidating. He seems larger than life with his confident, suave personality and he is rich and successful. When he sees Oliver, he don't see a loser or a fat guy. He sees the kind, passionate man with some much love to give. He like what he see and he keep saying it until Oliver accept it as truth.
Although their relationship started off as a misunderstanding, which I assume once the truth came out is gonna be some drama. However, there isn't much angst or drama in this book, despite the presence of an ex-boyfriend and the whole mistaken identity. But I actually like it as it is. Not everything need to be drama-filled to be entertaining.
For the first time, I actually like the inclusion of a prominent ex, in this case, Jaime's ex-boyfriend, Jack. They seems to have a long intimate history together and obviously Jack is still pretty hung up on him. Jaime gave a pretty clear stand in regards about his past with Jack. However, I find that a decade sounds like a lifetime to be with someone that you don't feel the passion with. Anyway, Jack is definitely someone I want to see to find his own happily ever after. And Jaime, Oliver and Jack interaction together, that's what we call mature adults.
