Review: Betrayed by D. B. Reynolds

(Vampires in America #5.5)
by D.B. Reynolds
Release Date: August 15, 2012

Love, the ache in your heart when you meet the one. It can take you to soaring heights; and it can leave you bleeding in the wreckage. Loyalty, the thing which binds a Vampire Lord to his children for eternity ... unless it rots from within, birthing hatred. Betrayal, it comes in many forms and from many sources ... love ... loyalty ... betrayal. War has come to the North American vampires, and Vampire Lords are reaching across territorial lines to strengthen allies and weaken enemies. The most powerful Lord of them all, Raphael, could change the course of the war and determine who raises the final banner of victory. But at what price? And will his mate, Cyn, be the one to pay it?

(4 stars)

It had been years since I read Vampires in America series and my favorite couple Raphael and Cynthia. After losing track of this series, I decided to make a quick work through their novella's and read their full length, Deception soon.

In Betrayed, someone wanted to assassinate Lord Raphael. Really? Who is that stupid. Raphael didn't even bat an eye, but Cynthia is worry sick as usual. They tends to always have disagreement when it comes to security issue. Is getting old. They need some new conflict in their marriage.

Is still a hot little novella for my favorite Mega couple of the series. Is short and satisfying. Sad to see Duncan no longer around, but looking forward to know more about Jared, the replacement. This path a good set up for Lucas as well, but I don't think I will be reading it anytime soon.
