Ten years ago, Benjamin Romanov left behind a world of violence and intrigue. Now he’s living the dream as the chief technology officer at PharmGen, the world’s largest provider of vaccinations. The perks are amazing—a luxury penthouse, fast car, and his pick of women. The only downside to his job is reporting employees for less than scrupulous e-mail practices, but when he is forced to confront an employee in the lab, he ends up preventing a security guard from killing an innocent woman.

Receptionist Morgan Tanner never meant to get caught in the crosshairs of a deal gone wrong. All she wanted was one night of excitement with the sexy and elusive Benjamin Romanov. But now they’re on the run, and Benjamin thinks she has something to do with why everyone wants to kill them. Only she has no idea what’s going on at all—she was only in the lab to deliver a time-sensitive package.

With time running out, Benjamin must find a way to protect an innocent woman while keeping his distance… and expose PharmGen to the world before the deadly virus is unleashed.

I really like Book 1Prime Target, so I'm very eager to read about Benjamin Romanov's story. I met him in the previous book as Roman's brother and he left a great impression on me. And the ending at Book 1 did left me wanting more and getting to know what is Roman's up to.

In Hard Target, Ben is working for a pharmaceutical company as an IT officer responsible for catching employee who traded company information. The heroine, Morgan Tanner is a receptionist, who decided to have a one night stand with the company hottie, Ben. She was then caught in a deadly circumstances simply because she was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

The blurb sounds misleading. Morgan is not a doctor nor is she being targeted by Ben. In fact, because she got herself into trouble, Ben have to save her. Morgan has her own story to tell about her shady past, but it was pretty much glossed over through the story. She is a likable heroine and provide a few funny moments with her bubbly character.

As for Ben, he seems all grown up now and I miss his humor. I remember he was much funnier in Prime Target. And I miss seeing more of Roman, I was expecting him to make a bigger role in this story. I can't believe he was back being a normal shopkeeper again. I thought he was working on some freelance job on the side.

This is a pretty short book and I feel that Ben and Morgan's characters was not fully developed. Is hard to really feel connected to the characters if you don't know them well enough. A lot of background information that I know of Ben came from my knowledge of reading the previous book, which helps.

The pacing of the plot and the suspense was pretty good. But the romance department was not as strong as I hope it will be. I like both Ben and Morgan, but somehow I feel that their relationship is rather casual even with the love declarations.
