( 4 stars )

This is my first book of Clarissa Wild and I must say I was pleasantly surprised that I ended up liking this book a lot. The first half of the book was a solid 4 stars for me, I love the suspense built up and dying to know the big secret. However, as I was not blow away by the revelation, I decided to drop my rating a little. But the story still has a kickass ending to not totally make me drop my rating to 3 stars.

Right from the first chapter, Angel DeLuca caught my attention. He seems like a sick fuck and I am wondering how is Clarissa gonna turn him into a hero. His name is Angel, but obviously he is a devil incarnated. He is the son of the Don, Joe DeLuca. His skill is in torturing and extracting information.

Sky is the heroine who was kidnap by the Don and passed to Angel to extract the information they need. Sky is mentally strong heroine that will not bow down to the mafia and will rather die with the secret.

So what is the big secret? Of course, I'm dying to know what is all about. Angel had no idea what is he trying to find out, he is just following his father's order. But little did we know that Sky and Angel had a history. When they are together, despite the mask and blindfold, they feel this magnetic pull between them.

Angel is quite a hothead and rash decision maker. Initially I thought he will be a total domineering alpha, a force to be reckon with, but that's not the case. The way he keep confronting his father without thinking anything through just prove how inexperience he is. To me, Angel is basically a bad guy in dilemma about his role in his father's organization.

I talked about not being all blown away by the big revelation because for such a suspenseful built up, I was expecting something more spectacular. Anyway, with all the danger surrounding Angel and Sky and the climatic ending all was not lost. Clarissa did provide a kickass heart pounding ending, albeit some of the stunt are unbelievable, as if the characters suddenly got superpowers.

Overall, despite Angel not being the perfect anti-hero, I still find myself rooting for him and I really like the surprise that we get at the epilogue.

*about the warning of the book: is not that disturbing. To me is just a rather normal dark romance. Nothing too over the top or hard to stomach.

The longer I hold out the bowl, the more Sky looks at me with those big eyes that tear a hole into my armor. I should go over there and give it to her, but that would defeat the purpose of this exercise.
So I shrug and sit down on the chair instead. The bowl is burning my hand as I hold it, waiting for her to make a move. Very slowly, she comes out of her corner on hands and legs, much like an animal would do if it were in distress.
Has she been reduced to that already? Or is she faking it to confuse me?
Whatever the case, I have to remain seated.
I need her to come to me, so she’ll learn to trust me and only me … so she’ll learn to obey me.
“You want this?” I hold the bowl out in front of me so she can smell it.
I can see her nose go up, and she crawls even closer. In the light, I can clearly see the red stripes all over her body, remnants of my belt. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t turn me on to see my marks on her skin. It means she’s mine. Mine to do with what I please.
And now, it pleases me to feed her.
“I don’t bite,” I muse, lifting my eyebrow. “Unless you misbehave.”
She sits down in front of me with a flushed face, barely able to contain her thirst as she leans in closer. I hold up the spoon close to her mouth. “Open.”
She does what I say and lets the spoon pass her lips, the hot soup pouring onto her tongue. Watching her gulp it down is like watching porn. So smooth … like it comes naturally to her.
When she swallows, I say, “Good girl.”
I can already imagine it’s my cum she’s swallowing.
Her eyes narrow at the words ‘good girl,’ and we exchange silent threats through simple looks. As I put the spoon back into the bowl, she holds out her hand, but I pull back the bowl so it’s above my head. “Ah-ah.”
She frowns, sitting back down again.
“My rules,” I say.
She sighs out loud but then nods in agreement.
I smile at her as I dip the spoon into the soup and push it past her lips again. We continue this ritual until the bowl is half-empty, which is when she notices the bread I brought with me lying on the armrest of the chair.
I pick up the bread and watch her round, azure eyes follow it as I tear off a piece, dip it into the soup, and bring it to her mouth. For a split second, I think I hear a soft hum coming from her mouth before she swallows. The sound alone brings goosebumps to my skin … and a twitch in my cock.
As I feed her the soup and bread, taking my time and having patience with her slow chewing, I feel like we’re connected on a level I’ve not experienced before. A dependency is growing between us, although I’m not exactly sure which one of us is bound to the other.
The bread and soup are gone within minutes, even though it feels like hours. Our eyes are locked in what seems an endless storm of silent screams. It would be worse if she could see behind the mask.
“Why did you come to give me food? The women …” she mutters.
I place a finger on her lip and silence her. “Don’t ask questions.”
“But—”
I grab her chin and force my lips on hers.
I admit, I’m selfish, but I couldn’t last another second watching those pouty lips and sweet, helpless eyes without claiming her as my own. I want to taste her mouth, the very essence of her being, for as long as it remains. I don’t know what choice she’ll make, so every single second of those twenty-one days is precious.
With every kiss, a fire grows inside me. It intensifies the burning desire to take her frail body out of this place and lay it down on my bed where I’ll slather her with my tongue until she’s pure again.
But I know that’s wishful thinking.
The world isn’t as easy as it seems.
