Review: The Master ( Game Maker #2 ) by Kresley Cole

The Master by Kresley Cole

A need colder than Siberian winter meets an attitude hotter than the Florida sun in #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole’s sultry new Game Maker novel.

Everyone fears the Master…

Rich, irresistible politician/Mafiya boss Maksimilian Sevastyan prefers tall, obedient blondes to fulfill his…complicated desires. That is, until the icy Russian encounters a disobedient brunette whose exquisite little body threatens his legendary restraint.

Except her.

Catarina MarĂn was a well-off young wife until her world fell apart. Now she’s hiding out, forced to start working as an escort in Miami. Her very first client is beyond gorgeous, but when he tells her what he plans to do to her, Cat almost walks out of the door.

If pleasure is a game, play to win.

After their mind-blowing encounter burns out of control, the lovers crave more. If they escape the deadly threats surrounding them, can Maksim overcome his past—to offer Cat his future? Only then will she tempt him with what he really wants: her, all tied up with a bow.

I felt that the sequel of the Game Maker miss a certain mark for me. The sex in this book is some hot stuff, but I felt like the meat of the story wrapped up too fast. This is the kind of guilty pleasure read that focus more on the sex rather than plot development. But I can't denied that I really enjoyed myself throughout the whole ride with Maxim and Cat.

Cat is a small-time heiress hiding from her psychopathic ex. She is struggling with bills and when a chance presented to her to be an escort for a night, she grabbed it. Never in her life, will she thought of capturing the attention of a Russian hobbyist who used to book a different escort every night.

Maxim is a Russian politician cum mafiya. He seems dangerous and full of hotness overloaded. He had a thing with tall, slim, blonde escorts. When Cat showed up being all brunette and curvy, he never expect for his life to turn a three sixty.

Maxim lives his life with people expecting things from him and he had enough experience with escorts to know their drill. When Cat manage to surprise him over and over, he was baffled with her out of the box behavior. Where could he actually find an escort who doesn't follow his order, love eating more than shopping and manage to talk dirty economics to him?

Cat's POV is hilarious, which reminds me a lot of the previous heroine Natalie. I love her Spanish and all those escort lingo. BBBJNQNS! MSOG! All the woman want is to spend a night with a stranger and earn some cash, but when Maxim turned stalkery and demand to held her prisoner, who is she to deny him.

No matter how much I love these two playing Pretty Woman, I can't ignore the fact that we spent basically half the book reading about them screwing each other in the penthouse. Only the second half, when they have to show up at Alek's impending nuptial at Nebraska did they surfaced from their sex marathon. And of course, we have to deal with the reappearance of the crazy ex. Maxim's dedication to Cat is very swoon-worthy, but most of all these were wrapped up hastily towards the ending.

This book make me miss Alek, Natalie and Jess all over again. Jess and her Cirque du Cock! Oh, what a great reminiscence. It had been eons since I read The Professional, but I think I remembering loving it more. It had more of a all-rounded plot with some action thrown in. By the way, if you haven't read The Professional yet, there were tons of spoiler here.
