Review: Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

Dirty Ties by Pam Godwin

I race to finance it.
I evade to protect it.
I kill to attain it.
I planned everything.

Except her.
The alluring, curvaceous blonde at the finish line.
With sapphire eyes that cheat and lie.
Whose powerful family murdered mine.

I hate her.
I want her.

I know she’s hiding something.
But so am I.

This book started out strong. Right at the first chapter, I got serve with a delicious dose of menage a trois. I love the whole Fast and Furious feel that Pam Godwin painted only this time with sexy sport-bikes instead of cars. The way 'Evader' straddle his bike make every woman wish they were the bike herself. No wonder Kaci had been eye-fucking him from a distance for nine long months, eventhough she had no idea how he looks like without the helmet. For all she knew, he might looks like an ogre.

Kaci Baskel is the enemy heiress, who was forced to marry her gay best friend by their parents and waiting patiently for her chance to bring down the family business. She had a totally unsatisfying relationship due to her husband, Collins' sexual orientation.

Logan Flynt aka 'Evader' had been plotting his revenge for almost half his life. Together with his best friend, Benny, the technical wizard, they have a well plan revenge scheme that will guarantee a success and the ending of Trenchant Media empire. Everything is falling into place and Logan is just months away from achieving his endgame, only to have Kaci deviating his goal.

Dirty Ties came with a revenge theme, which I usually love. I like the whole enemy-to-lover thing but I felt that Logan and Kaci didn't play into the I-hate-you role much. If they did it didn't last long.

This book had great potential, but there are a feel things that kept niggling at me from giving it a 5 stars. I felt that some actions and decisions make by Logan seems unbelievable and irrational. I'm all for unconditional love and love that is so strong that the woman is all you see. But I need more conflict and challenges in between before he jump into the bandwagon of the pussy-whipped. For a hero with his past, I was hoping for more cruelty and brutality. He is too much of a nice guy albeit a very hot one. Okay, now I'm complaining about a hero for being nice. I'm such a masochist.

So despite my rant, I still very much enjoyed the book especially the whole racing thing going on in the beginning and their anonymity towards each other. I was kinda waiting for them to fuck with their helmets on. Damn the awkwardness. My favorite will still be the elevator scene. Pam Godwin lost me around 60% into the story, but the little twisty ending make up for it.
