Review: Out of Darkness ( Heaven Hill #2 ) by Laramie Briscoe

Out of Darkness by Laramie Briscoe

Ex-News reporter.
Rape survivor.
Former enemy of the Heaven Hill MC.

Meredith Rager’s life completely changed the night she was attacked by an unknown person. Once a vibrant force that threatened everything about Heaven Hill, she is now under their care. The only place she feels safe is inside their compound. When she decides to take back the part of her life that her rapist took away, she discovers secrets that once again could tear the club apart.

Formidable force of nature.
Loved member of the Heaven Hill MC.

Tyler Blackfoot came into the world a John Doe. An orphan from the moment that he took his first breath, the only thing anyone knew was his Native American heritage. For most of his life, he’s been alone – except for the club that has taken him in as their own. When he rescued Meredith, a protective side of his personality came out that he never knew he had. Protecting her means everything – even when he discovers danger might be closer than either of them thought possible.

Together, the two of them are trying to make a life for themselves. Against everything they have, they’re hoping to see the light that will lead them out of darkness.

What is it about Heaven Hill MC heroes that they are all so instantly likable with their hero complex and treating their woman like precious little things. I can't even find one asshole in their group.... yet. If you read the blurb of this book, you bound to get spoil by what happened to Meredith, the reporter at the end of Book 1 Meant to Be.

This time we have Tyler Blackfoot's story. He is Liam's best friend and honestly this two men are very similar in their personality. They are loyal, honorable and extremely protective of their women. But the issue Tyler is dealing with are very different, so it doesn't make the story felt repetitive at all.

Meredith used to be the ambitious reporter who was adamant to do an expose of the local biker gang to further her career. Despite several warnings from Tyler, she never backed off until the day she was rape and beaten while waiting for an informant. She felt her life is over and thought she totally deserved what she got.

Tyler found Meredith after she was attack and brought her back to his clubhouse to take care of her. This man is absolutely perfection, he is just so giving and never ask anything in return. He let Meredith stayed in his room for months and brought her to therapy and just plainly waiting for her to accept his unconditional love.

Compare to Book 1, Book 2 Out of Darkness emphasize more on the romance department. We are mostly dealing with the aftermath of Meredith's attack and how she slowing heal with the help from Tyler and Doctor Jones. The romance is more touching and emotional, seeing how Tyler is so patient with their relationship, being ever supportive and never pushing her for more.

We also got to catch up with Liam and Denise, the previous couple. Both of them got a lot of page time as well, seeing that they were Tyler and Meredith's best friend as well. Love seeing their tight-nit friendship, who have each other backs.

The climax of the book was dealing with the investigation behind the attack on Meredith. We have some shocking revelation that will change the future of Heaven Hill MC. Overall, the Book 2 of Heaven Hill series is as good as Book 1 for me. For romance buff, this might work even better because there is more focus on the romance and less on the biker business.
