Review: When Beauty Tamed the Beast ( Fairy Tales #2 ) by Eloisa James

When Beauty Tamed the Beast by Eloisa James
Excerpt

Miss Linnet Berry Thrynne is a Beauty . . . Naturally, she's betrothed to a Beast.

Piers Yelverton, Earl of Marchant, lives in a castle in Wales where, it is rumored, his bad temper flays everyone he crosses. And rumor also has it that a wound has left the earl immune to the charms of any woman.

Linnet is not just any woman.

She is more than merely lovely: her wit and charm brought a prince to his knees. She estimates the earl will fall madly in love—in just two weeks.

Yet Linnet has no idea of the danger posed to her own heart by a man who may never love her in return.

If she decides to be very wicked indeed . . . what price will she pay for taming his wild heart?

Review

Imagine Dr. Gregory House as the Earl of Marchant.

"A barking-doctor - that's me - and a wickedly conniving beauty - that's you - limping along together in a lifetime of happiness?"

This book is seriously entertaining by just reading how Piers, the Earl of Marchant insult his patient and the people around him.

"You're dying, that's the problem."

"She's obviously not carrying one baby unless she's been consorting with a bear."

"He's got the body of an eighty-year old. Has he spent much time consorting with actresses?"

"I have a wing of patients waiting for me, some of them probably cadavers by now. Can't keep those cadavers waiting. It's not polite."

From the first moment Piers was introduced, I can't stop laughing at his crankiness, rudeness and overall nasty attitude. I'm a total fan for such an asshole doctor. Piers had a limp and walked with a cane and supposedly impotent according to himself. He didn't plan to marry at all, until his father brought him the perfect wife.

Linnet Thrynne's reputation was compromised when she was wrongly believed to be consorting with the prince and got herself pregnant. Of course said prince didn't marry her and she found herself in a delicate situation. Her family found her the perfect solution by marrying her to the Earl of Marchant who desperately in needs of an heir.

Linnet decided that she needs to make Piers fall in love with her and agree to the marriage by two weeks. But she didn't expect him to be such a nasty bastard. These two together was full of hilarious bickering. They can just insult each other non-stop.

"Look where it got you... pregnant by a prince, and betrothed to a maniac."

"Time for a private consult with your favorite doctor. Come tell me all about that nasty raw feeling caused by that seducing devil who took advantage of you."

The only complaint I have is that sometimes the people in this book talked a tad too much. There are so many lengthy conversation among each other and sometime I hope there is more action and plot development instead.

Overall, a really enjoyable read for fans of House MD.
